Devils chant “Rangers suck, Islanders swallow” during Hawks game

The New Jersey Devils and their fanbase are feeling good.

Not only did the Devils take the 1-0 lead 17 seconds in on the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night, but they are looking to start off the 2021-22 season with a win, but they’re also hoping to get the fans pumped.

And boy are they pumped up!

The Devils took the 1-0 lead thanks to Dougie Hamilton, who wanted to make a first good impression in Jersey. The star defenseman signed a seven-year, $63 million deal with a $9 million average annual value on opening of free agency back in July.

And for now, he is making the Devils happy with their decision to hand him such a hefty contract.

The crowd was feeling so good that it started chanting “Rangers suck, Islanders swallow” - during a Blackhawks game. Hawks insider Mark Lazerus noticed right away and was stunned.

But you have to admit it is good to see the Devils enjoying the start to a season after missing out on the playoffs since 2018 (which was a first since 2012).
