The Draft weekend was an exciting one for the New Jersey Devils fanbase. But what if we were to tell these fans that this is just the start of an exciting summer?

After a rough couple of years for the Devils and their fans, New Jersey seems to have become a true contender after  selecting Jack Hughes first overall and acquiring Norris Trophy-winning defenseman P.K. Subban over the weekend.

It feels like we might see a resurgence in Jersey and many insiders believe the Devils aren’t done making significant moves.

With $28 million in cap space with which to play, the Devils are reportedly very active on the free-agent market as well. Steven Ellis of The Hockey News expects GM Ray Shero to target scoring wingers in free agency and points to San Jose Sharks forward Gustav Nyquist or Brandon Pirri of the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Devils could even be a player on UFA defenseman Jake Gardiner.

There might be a bit of competition out there for the Devils, especially when it comes to Nyquist. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman believes the veteran forward could end up with the Columbus Blue Jackets, but the Devils will sure be ready to battle.

More moves are expected to be coming from Shero, who got a great answer from Taylor Hall after selecting Hughes and trading for Subban.

This could mean Hall will be tempted to stay longer in New Jersey after all…
