Would you welcome him back to Toronto?
Did the Toronto Maple Leafs just leak their own upcoming free agent signing?
On Saturday, the Maple Leafs caught the attention of fans and pundits alike when they sent out a seemingly random message on their social media platforms. The message simply read "Don't blink" and was accompanied by a video of former Maple Leafs forward James van Riemsdyk (JVR) scoring against another of his former teams in the Philadelphia Flyers.
Here's a look at the post:
Some have speculated that this is a sign that the Maple Leafs are looking to bring JVR back for one more season, although with JVR at 37 years of age it is fair to wonder how fans in Toronto might feel about such a reunion.
He's coming off of a solid season as a member of the Detroit Red Wings where he appeared in 72 games on his way to 15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points over that stretch, and has shown an ability to adapt to whatever situation he has been thrust into over his career in the National Hockey League.
JVR has a very impressive 1154 career NHL games under his belt already, with that time split between the aforementioned Flyers, Maple Leafs and Red Wings as well as the Boston Bruins and Columbus Blue Jackets. He also has over 80 games of Stanley Cup playoff experience under his belt, and could be viewed as someone that will be a strong mentor for some of the organization's younger players.
Would you welcome a reunion between JVR and the Maple Leafs?
