Did the Rangers just save Vigneault's job?

He looked like he was going to get fired for a hot minute there.

It was widely speculated by NHL insiders at the beginning of the week that New York Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault had one game left - against the Vegas Golden Knights on October 31st.

It seemed that if he lost that game, he was gone. The team's record would've stood at an abysmal 3-8-2. The team mounted an impressive come from behind win in the third period and defeated the Golden Knights, giving Vigneault at least another day.

The Rangers have since won 2 more games, giving them 3 consecutive wins, and all of a sudden finding themselves one point out of a wild card spot after sitting at the bottom of the Eastern conference with the Montreal Canadiens.

Talk about team resiliency.

On top of Lindy Ruff who shares the bench as Vigneault's assistant, there are several coaches waiting in the pipeline, eager to resume their head coaching career. The list includes the likes of Dave Tippett, Dan BylsmaJack CapuanoKirk Muller, Darryl Sutter, and more.

It would probably be too soon to say Vigneault is out of the metaphorical pot of boiling water he's been in for the past couple of weeks, but the team's string of three wins has definitely helped him avoid being fired by a narrow margin.
