This looked like one nasty low blow.

The blade of Ottawa Senators defenseman Dion Phaneuf's stick appeared to strike Detroit Red Wings forward Riley Sheahan below the belt on Monday night, and while there was no call on the play, any call would have been nullified by the Red Wings goal that quickly followed.

Sheahan's reaction to the spear from Phaneuf indicated that the blow not only caught him low, but also that the blow was a significant one, with Sheahan almost appearing to be lifted off his feet from the shot to his groin.

This one might make the boys who watch it cringe a little extra.
