When the Detroit Red Wings hit the ice tomorrow afternoon at Little Caesars Arena to face the Columbus Blue Jackets, they will once again be shorthanded.

Forward Austin Czarnik, who was shaken up after being driven into the boards last night against the Montreal Canadiens, will not be able to play.

It looks as though Robby Fabbri, who missed yesterday's game as a precaution, will be able to go.

Head coach Derek Lalonde had a few choice words for on-ice official Brandon Blandina, who declined to whistle Montreal's Jordan Harris after his shove of Czarnik resulted in the latter's injury.

“I’m not that concerned about Reimer’s penalty. I was concerned about the player’s safety with Austin Czarnik,” a clearly frustrated Lalonde said. “Five minutes left and he gets barreled into the boards. The classic push on the hip and he’s out for the rest of the game. Could’ve broken his leg and (referee) Brandon (Blandina) decides not to call that? I’m just disappointed in that one, because Harris could’ve hurt him seriously. It sounds like he might be OK. That’s the one I was disappointed in. The rest of it I don’t mind.”

In 11 games played this season, Czarnik has one assist.
