Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov drew the wrath of the National Hockey League Department of Player Safety for his actions on Saturday evening, as he delivered a brutal head shot to Tampa Bay Lightning forward Conor Sheary.

In what was a wild sequence of events, the goal Florida scored just a few moments later was disallowed, while Kulikov was assessed a match penalty and booted from the game. It would be announced shortly afterward that he'd gotten himself a disciplinary hearing, and a verdict has been rendered.

He's been suspended for the next two games, meaning that he will not be available for the Panthers in their upcoming matchups against the Nashville Predators on Thursday as well as the New York Rangers on Saturday.

For those who missed the hit on Sheary, take a look below and judge for yourself:

Playing in his second tenure with the Panthers, Kulikov has racked up 16 assists in the 64 games that he's played in, while also amassing 59 PIM and a +9 rating.
