Don Cherry has been an important feature in the National Hockey League for decades now, however, it seems like it’s even bigger than that.
On Monday, Cherry was fired by Sportsnet and Rogers for making offensive comments about Canadian immigrants. Cherry was fired Monday on Remembrance Day, which honors Canada’s veterans, after he said:“You people … you love our way of life, love our milk and honey. At least you could pay a couple of bucks for poppies or something like that. These guys paid for your way of life that you enjoy in Canada.”said Grapes, who spent four decades in the NHL between his time as a player, coach and commentator.
And it has gone world wide. On social media, a Reuters correspondent in Moscow posted a picture of her television in Russia where Cherry has been front news on several networks.
She even lets Cherry know that he could make a career in the KHL in Russia where the Dynamo Moscow offers him a job as an analyst for Dynamo TV. We covered that news earlier today.
We shouldn’t be worry about Grapes’ future it seems.
