The REAL Secretary of Defense!
American President Donald Trump kicked off his annual State of the Union address with a bang this evening.
Trump started his speech talking about all the winning that the country is doing under his Administration and used Team USA's gold medal winning men's and women's teams as his prime example. Trump welcomed the men's team into the House of Representatives to a roaring chant of 'USA! USA! USA!'

Whatever your politics are, you have to admit that this is a pretty cool moment.
I'm no Trump supporter by any means, but I imagine that having your country's top policy makers stand up, applaud you and give you that sort of reception is a pretty special moment. Those players earned it and you can see the joy on their faces as they receive this incredible recognition.
And if that weren't enough for recognition, USA goaltender Connor Hellebuyck received the largest cheers after Trump announced that Hellebuyck will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country's highest civilian honor.
Trump heaped praise on Hellebuyck, but also had a little fun at his expense too saying, "I've never seen a goaltender as well as goalie Connor Hellebuyck," Trump said. "I asked him, the one shot the one where your put your stick in the back and it bounced off, I asked, 'Do you practice that or was that a little lucky?' he refused to answer that question," joked Trump.
Honestly... that's pretty funny. Hellebuyck's reaction is perfect too.
Again, I'm a red blooded Canadian who cheers for the red and white maple leaf any time I get the opportunity... all I can do is tip my hat to Hellebuyck. He was absolutely stellar all tournament long and he kept his very best for when things mattered the most. That was truly a Gold Medal and a Presidential Medal of Freedom performance.
Kudos, Mr. Secretary of Defense.
