Donald Trump embarrasses himself on live TV about a call on Alexander Ovechkin

He definitely doesn’t know what he’s talking about... Especially when it comes to Canada! Watch below:

Pretty much everything has already been said about Tuesday’s meeting at the White House between U.S. President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, but one weird scene surely stands out.

While the Liberal leader held his ground, making it clear that Canada is not— and never will be —for sale, he was caught off guard by some unexpected praise from his American counterpart.

Coming just weeks after the disastrous visit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, many observers were afraid of a repeat performance with Carney. All eyes were on Trump, known for his unpredictability, to see what tone he would strike.

And it makes sense because with Trump, you never really know what to expect!

No one could have predicted what he said when Trump launched into a monologue about how much he loves Canada.

“I love Canada. I have a lot of respect for the Canadians…You happen to have a very, very good hockey player right here on the Capitals, he is a big tough cookie too, just broke the record.”

The issue, as you might’ve already noticed, is that Trump was clearly talking about Alexander Ovechkin—who just broke Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goal record. All while explaining why he loves Canada.

It probably doesn’t need saying, but let’s say it anyway: Alexander Ovechkin is not Canadian. He’s Russian. And he’s even famously close to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Since the footage has been shared online, Trump has been trending for embarrassing himself with his call on Ovi.
