Doughty categorically SLAMS his team

The Los Angeles Kings were not long ago seen as a dynasty in the making after winning Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014.

Since then, they've been rather underwhelming, missing the playoffs three out of four of the next seasons, with their one post-season appearance being a swift loss in the first round in 2016 to the San Jose Sharks.

Drew Doughty, one of the team's leaders, had this to say about his team's performances over the last few seasons.

Those are some harsh words from the Kings' star defenseman - perhaps too harsh. But in reality, he isn't necessarily wrong. Los Angeles' inability to make the playoffs lately is a cause for concern for the franchise, and with most teams getting better around them, they'll need to have a real gutsy season if they want to find themselves back in the playoff picture anytime soon.
