It is official folks, Matt Duchene has been traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Senators traded Duchene and defenseman  Julius Bergman to the Jackets for forward prospects Vitaly Abramov  and Jonathan Davidsson, a 2019 first-round pick and a conditional 2020 first-round pick, TSN Hockey Insiders Darren Dreger and Bob McKenzie report.

The funny thing is that the Senators are facing the Jackets tonight, in Ottawa...

A lot of teams had been looking at Senators pending free agents Mark Stone and Matt Duchene as trade chatter has heated up for the past several weeks. It seems like Stone and Duchene officially hit the trade market last night when the Sens unsurprisingly pulled them out of the lineup for Thursday’s game against the New Jersey Devils and it didn't take long for the latter.

Duchene will indeed face his former team right away tonight...

The 20-year-old Abramov has 12 goals and 22 points in 52 games with the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters this season. He was selected in the third round (65th) overall of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Blue Jackets.

Jonathan Davidsson is 21 years old. He has 10 goals and 20 points in 35 games with Djurgardens IF in Sweden this season. The winger was selected in the sixth round round (170th overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft.
