Ducks hand out the richest contract in franchise history

Good player but... didn't they just nickle and dime the rest of their young players?

This just in, the Anaheim Ducks have signed 24 year old defenseman Jackson LaCombe to an eight year contract worth $9 million per season, the richest contract in franchise history.

To put this in persepective, this deal is more money than legends Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, JS Giguere, Teemu Selanne or Paul Kariya ever earned in their time with the Ducks.

LaCombe broke out big time for the Ducks in 2024-25, scoring 14 goals and 43 points in 75 games.

Don't get me wrong, I like LaCombe and I think the Ducks are wise to lock him up long-term but... well... I just can't figure out what this management group is doing from day to day. One moment they're nickel and diming Mason McTavish and the next moment they're handing out the richest contract in team history. I just can't figure out their motivations... any Ducks fans out there wanna help me out with this one?
