Dylan Holloway is set to begin his second campaign with the St. Louis Blues after signing an RFA offersheet with the team while still a member of the Edmonton Oilers last summer.

News of Holloway and defenseman Philip Broberg leaving the Oilers to sign with the Blues last summer was, honestly, pretty surprising. After all, we often go years between offersheet signings in the NHL and it's very rare that players actually switch teams as a result of signing an offersheet. To date, Holloway has been pretty quiet about his reasons for signing with the Blue but earlier today on the Cam & Strick Podcast he finally opened up a bit.

Holloway admitted that he felt a bit disrespected by Oilers GM Stan Bowman in negotiations last summer and that's what led him to sign with the Blues.

From Holloway himself:

"It rubbed me the wrong way how little Edmonton thought of me in our contract negotiations. I’m an Alberta boy, I wanted to go back to a team we went so far with but as soon as Edmonton didn’t reciprocate that feeling I was all in on St. Louis."

For the record, Bowman had been on the job for about three weeks when he fumbled away both Holloway and Broberg...

This just in, the Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Vasili Podkolzin to a three year contract worth $2.95 million per season.

The 24 year old Russian forward scored eight goals and 24 points in 82 games for the Oilers last season, his first season with the team after being acquired in a trade from the Vancouver Canucks. Selected in the 1st round (10th overall) of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Podkolzin has failed to live up to his offensive pedigree but has established himself as a solid two-way defensive forward with the Oilers.

NHL insider Pierre LeBrun reports that Podkolzin's extension will pay $1M signing bonus each year and $1.95M in salary each season for a total of $2.95M AAV per season.
