Dylan Larkin Responds To Canadiens Fans After Huge Chant On Saturday Night.

The Detroit Red Wings are having one heck of a dysfunctional season right now and unfortunately it seems as though rival fan bases are more than happy to kick them while their down.

On Saturday night we saw the latest example of that when fans of the Montreal Canadiens made a rather blatant attempt to convince now former Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin to accept a trade to Montreal. Although it's unclear if Larkin would consider the city as an option for a trade, it was painfully obvious that the majority of Canadiens fans in attendance last night would welcome such a trade.

The chants of "We want Larkin" were so loud that even the live broadcast had to acknowledge what was happening in the building.

Following the game Larkin had a response to those chants and, considering he is reportedly still hoping for a trade out of Detroit, I can see why these comments rub some fans the wrong way.

"It was interesting," admitted Larkin. "I never would’ve imagined that in this building in my career. But they’re passionate fans. In my opinion, it’s the best atmosphere in hockey, and they’re knowledgeable, and they love their team, and that’s how I read into it. And after a few seconds, it was just back to focusing on the game."

While Larkin was very kind in his praise of Montreal and the passion of their fans, something tells me it won't be enough to cause him to change his mind when it comes to his list of potential trade destinations.
