Dylan Larkin's agent is speaking out after recent comments from Steve Yzerman.
The situation surrounding Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin reached a fever pitch over the weekend during the 2026 National Hockey League Entry Draft. but despite that Larkin still currently remains a member of the Red Wings.
On Saturday, Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman publicly addressed the recent trade demand from his captain for the first time when he faced questions from the media when attempting to discuss the team's draft selections. Although he was reluctant to take questions on Larkin, in the end Yzerman made it clear that he felt no pressure to trade a player who still has 5 years on his contract and vowed to do what was best for the team.
Since that press conference, Dylan Larkin's agent Pat Brisson has since responded but Larkin's agent had very little to say except to reveal that this process has already been ongoing for some time now. Brisson acknowledged Yzerman's comments but did no more than that, stating only that Larkin's camp would continue to work with the Red Wings to get a deal done.
"The process is that we’ve had discussions for the last month or so," said Brisson as per Pierre LeBrun. "And we’ve agreed that we’ll be working together on this. I do understand that Steve and the organization have to do what’s best for the Red Wings. We’re trying to work as a `team’ together on this to reach each of our goals so to speak."
While Brisson's comments may lead you to believe that everyone is getting along as they try to find the best possible deal, I suspect that internally the Red Wings feel very differently. Judging by the reactions on social media since the trade request went public, I certainly know the Red Wings fans feel very differently.
