East vs. West : Which coaches challenge more?
The stats are pretty clear on this issue, actually.
HockeyFeed
It's natural, we always oppose the East vs. the West on everything regarding hockey : players size, game speed, overall grittiness, etc.
This time, Dave Stubbs reports interesting facts regarding coaches challenge in today's hockey:
''Requested'' means the team's coach asked for a review of a play during a game, while ''Opposing'' means the coach opposing the team asked for a review.
A few points deserve to be pointed out:
- The Eastern division has a lot more challenges than the West, almost a 2:1 ratio.
- The most active coach regarding reviews is Jeff Blashill of the Red Wings, with 14 reviews by himself. The least active would be Montreal's Therrien/Julien, with only 2 reviews asked between themselves.
- The Rangers have been opposed the most, 14 times during their 64 games. The Hurricanes have been opposed online 3 times.
- The goal you get overtuned hurt the most. The Panthers, the Sharks and the Canucks have felt the most pain, with 5 goals ''lost'' to review.
- On the flip side, the Predators and the Sharks have been ''given'' 2 extra goals after a ''no goal'' became a ''good goal'' following review.
We could analyze these stats for days, but whether your team is a clear winner or loser in the new challenging era is left for you to decide!
