The Edmonton Oilers created a little magic on Saturday night when, with a commanding lead over the Chicago Blackhawks, they gave emergency backup goaltender Matt Berlin a moment he will never forget.

In spite of the fact that the game was still technically on the line, Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft made the decision to give Berlin his moment to shine in the National Hockey League in the final minutes of the game, putting the 25 year old amateur goaltender from the University of Alberta in between the pipes for the Oilers.

Berlin would pitch a perfect shutout during his time on the ice, stopping the only shot he would face on the night, and after the game he got the chance to speak with Hockey Night in Canada reporter Scott Oake about just how special of a moment this was for him.

Berlin described what a whirlwind the entire day proved to be and of course the overwhelming moment that was his chance to play for the team he grew up cheering for. You'll notice that, likely thanks to a lack of media training, Berlin was much more animated and exuberant than you would typically expect to see in a post-game interview from your typical hockey player.
