Boston Bruins players are looking to move on from a disappointing finish to their second game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in Ottawa.

Up by two heading into the third period, Boston had a three-minute lapse that allowed the Senators back in the game with two quick goals. The Bruins would drop the game two minutes into the overtime period, and the series is now tied heading into game three in Boston.

Speaking from the locker room after the game, goalie Tuukka Rask said, “Overall we played a better game for 60 minutes…it was 3-1 and you know they’re going to make their push, so you just try and survive. They got that kind of cheap goal to make it 3-2 and then they gained some energy out of that and made a nice play for 3-3”.

Team captain Zdeno Chara spoke to the team’s injury woes: “Those things happen, you obviously wish you had a full lineup every game. It’s Unfortunate that the last three, four games we’re always losing a body, but for the most part we handled it well and shared the ice time”. With seven players sidelined since the start of April, the Bruins are testing their depth.

Chara misplayed a puck late in the 3rd period, resulting in a delay of game penalty. The resulting powerplay carried through to the overtime period, and gave Ottawa the momentum they needed to win the game. “Whether it was a little bounce or maybe I put too much on it, those things happen” Chara said, but took full responsibility saying, “Next time I need to keep it in".

Patrice Bergeron also chimed in after the game: “It's disappointing, but now it's over and we need to move forward”. The veteran Bruins center knows that setbacks are just part of the process, adding that “It would be nice to win 16 in a row, but that's not easy to do”.

With the series tied 1-1, Boston will have home ice advantage when they take on Ottawa on Monday, April 17th.
