Eddie Olczyk surprises his son and brings him to tears.

There was a truly heartwarming father and son moment that went down in the National Hockey League over the weekend and, luckily for all of us hockey fans, it was a moment that was captured on camera for all to see.

Nick Olczyk currently serves as a broadcaster for the NHL's Utah Mammoth and over the weekend, while covering the games, Nick gave a brief speech about why Hockey Fights Cancer is a cause that means so much to him. Nick is of course the son of former NHL player and legendary NHL broadcaster Eddie Olczyk and Eddie recently had a very public battle of his own with cancer.

In 2017 Eddie was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer but thankfully after a long battle that included treatments and surgery, Eddie was declared cancer free in 2018.

Despite that the cause, rather understandably, remains one that is very near and dear in Nick's heart which showed when he was given a huge surprise during his speech. As Nick began to talk about why Hockey Fights Cancer is important to him, a very familiar face walked into frame with Eddie there to surprise his son.

The reaction from Nick spoke volumes as his composure broke and the emotion at seeing the man who means so much to him was plainly written all over his face. Eddie was of course there to surprise his son but also to share his own thoughts on the battle against cancer, a battle that has likely had an impact in one way or another on many of you reading this.
