The Buffalo Sabres have pulled captain Jack Eichel from the team's lineup just moments ahead of their game against the Philadelphia Flyers. According to the Sabres, Eichel is out with an "upper body injury."

Check it out:

Stay tuned, Sabres fans. This doesn't sound good.

Unfortunately for Eicheil his point streak will end at 17 games. Eichel could have matched the Buffalo record of 18 straight games with a point, set by Gilbert Perreault (Oct. 24-Dec. 4, 1971).

Eichel had 31 points (16 goals, 15 assists) during his streak, which was the longest in the NHL this season and tied Dave Andreychuk for second-longest in Sabres history. Andreychuk had two 17-game point streaks (Dec. 31, 1991-Feb. 4, 1992, Oct. 18-Nov. 14, 1992).
