Eichel's agent shares a huge secret from contract negotiations.

It's quite clear that 20-year-old Buffalo Sabres star forward Jack Eichel wanted to get paid, but it turns out he also wants to win quite badly.

As most of our readers will know by now, on Tuesday Eichel signed a massive eight-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres worth $80 million, an average annual value of $10 million per season, but he may have left money on the table.

According to a breaking news report from John Wawrow of the Associated Press, he has been informed by Eichel's agent, Peter Fish, that Eichel left money on the table in order to help the Sabres build a winning team around him.

Fish did not indicate how much money Eichel left on the negotiating table, but consider the 80 million dollar contract he received it's hard to imagine just how much higher the Sabres would have been willing to go.

Nonetheless if what Fisher is staying it's true, it may explain why rumors have been floating around suggesting that the Sabres are set to name Eichel their next captain. If he did leave money on the table to help his team, they may feel he has the right leadership qualities to lead it as well.
