When you reach the Stanley Cup Final you know that the teams on either side are battling through a host of injuries after the long and grueling tournament that is the Stanley Cup playoffs. Injuries are always going to be a factor in a series this deep into a playoff run but it is always especially difficult when an injury occurs during the series itself.

In Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final it looked as though the Florida Panthers had lost the services of veteran Aaron Ekblad after he suffered a rather serious looking hand injury. Ekblad was injured when a shot was fired from the blue line by Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse, a shot that would strike Ekblad right on his glove.

The Panthers defenseman appeared to be in serious pain after taking the shot off his hand, even collapsing into the Panthers bench in visible agony. Here's a look at the replay:

Thankfully for the Panthers it appears as though they have avoided the worst of it, with Ekblad spotted on the ice today alongside his fellow Panthers during a morning skate on Sunday.

Ekblad even spoke to reporters and provided more details on the injury he suffered, indicating that he had suffered a stinger but was otherwise completely fine. Ekblad even detailed how he was unable to grip his stick after the injury, a probably that has since gone away.

"When you get that stinger you can't really grip for a second, but all good now," confirmed Ekblad on Sunday.

It seems like a good bet that Ekblad will be ready to go for Game 3, and as a result will have missed very little time due to this injury.
