Embarrassing vacation story about Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl comes out

Even the best hockey players have off days, and I guess it’s a good thing when it happens far away from the ice. Lauren Kyle McDavid recently shared a hilarious story about her husband, Connor McDavid, and Oilers teammate Leon Draisaitl, proving that even NHL superstars aren’t invincible… when it comes to pickleball.

The two Oilers stars were on vacation together with their wives when they decided to join a friendly pickleball game at the resort. They ended up facing a couple from New York, a man and a woman. Lauren explained that the couple was extremely competitive, and in a surprising twist, they completely crushed McDavid and Draisaitl on the court.

What made the story even funnier? The couple didn’t even know they were playing against two of the NHL’s biggest stars.

“We were like ‘what’s going on? You guys are professional athletes’,” Lauren jokes that they were teasing the Oilers stars.

This story is just fun and it’s showing that even elite athletes can be humbled by everyday competition. While McDavid and Draisaitl can dominate on ice, pickleball, at least that day, proved to be a different challenge entirely.

Vacation may have been a time for rest, but clearly, it also came with a healthy dose of humility for the Oilers’ dynamic duo. And judging by Lauren’s recount, this is one story the couple won’t soon forget. Nor will McDavid and Draisaitl I’m sure.
