Will Milan Lucic play in the NHL again? Ever since his wife posted on his journey, fans have been wondering. More below:
Last month, fans got an update on former NHL forward Milan Lucic, who had been silent for several months following an incident that got him trending for all of the wrong reasons. Back in November 2023, the Bruins’ veteran forward, who was playing in his second tenure with Boston after returning as a free-agent to the team he began his NHL career with, was arrested following an alleged incident of domestic violence against his wife, Brittany Lucic. While he had been focused on his recovery after entering the NHL / NHLPA Assistance Program where he received help for his drug issues, Lucic was absent from the hockey world until his wife posted a moving update on Father’s Day.
“The greatest gift you have given our children is the gift of your sobriety -the ability to experience life through a cleaner, more grounded perspective. You have always been present for them, and now, even more so,” she wrote.
Fans were thrilled to get some news on Lucic and immediately the rumour mill started spinning on whether he could make a return to the NHL now that he’s healthy and sober. Especially since Lucic has not officially retire from playing.
Comments, posts and questions were sent and addressed to Lucic, who earlier this week posted a beautiful picture of his family, feeling very grateful, instead of replying to the rumours of a possible return.
It is clear that for Lucic, the most important thing at this time is his family and probably staying sober for everyone who cares for him. Milan Lucic and Brittany got married back in 2012 and have three children, daughters Valentina and Nikolina, and son Milan Jr.
While it would be great to see Lucic be givent the chance to return to the NHL, perhaps on a professional tryout deal with a team, only time will tell if that’s in the cards.
In 1,177 games with the Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, Lucic has racked up 233 goals, 353 assists, and 1301 PIM. He was also a key member of the 2011 Stanley Cup-winning Bruins squad.
I have to say I just love seeing him healthy and happy.
