ESPN reporter makes insane comments about hockey and its fans.

The National Hockey League and ESPN have always had something of a rocky relationship, and some recent comments from one of the networks analysts certainly aren't going to help that situation.

During a recent episode of "The Hoop Collective" ESPN analyst Tim MacMahon tore into hockey fans in the state of Texas, mocking them for essentially not being real sports fans. It was a bizarre comment that comes at a  time when the Dallas Stars just had another excellent run to the Western Conference Final, and the tone and delivery of the comments seemed overly hostile out of nowhere.

"Nobody gives a crap about hockey" said MacMahon on Sunday. "I did not give a crap that's my point."

MacMahon then went in on fans in the state of Texas.

"I'll just tell you real honestly, Texas folks who are hockey fans it's because they don't know anything about real sports," said MacMahon as his two co-hosts looked visibly uncomfortable. "They don't know crap about football, they don't know crap about basketball, they don't know crap about baseball."

MacMahon then tried to describe hockey fans in the state of Texas as hipsters hopping onto a new trend but, when his co-host pointed out that the Stars have been in Texas for over 30 years, his next comments were even more ridiculous.

"Ok that's fairly new-fangled to me," said MacMahon. "I was a teenager when they started bringing these stupid hockey fans."

The comments would be pretty unflattering for MacMahon in the best of circumstances but, considering he is making them while employed by a company that is paying millions of dollars for the rights to the National Hockey League, they come off even worse.
