Evan Bouchard and Mattias Ekholm make NHL history last night

In case you missed it last night, Edmonton Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm scored his first NHL hat trick at 35 years old in his team's 7-4 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Incidentally, the Oilers were coming off another game where another one of their defensemen scored a hat trick. Of course, defenseman Evan Bouchard put up a hatty and six points against the Washington Capitals in a very entertaining 6-5 final.

Crazily enough, last night was the first time in NHL history that a team has had defensemen score hat tricks in back to back games.

Don't look now but the Oilers are now tied for top spot in the NHL's Pacific Division.
