When the Edmonton Oilers signed Evander Kane to a one-year contract on Jan. 27, there were many questions regarding his behaviour on and off the ice. While for now, there isn’t any sign of foul play in his personal life, there is a worry that is growing as what Kane does on the ice.

Sure, the guy has tallied 15 goals and 23 points in 28 games since joining the Oilers, however on Monday night, he accomplished the unthinkable on the game sheet, but no because he dazzled with goals and points.

That’s because he managed to take four minor penalties in the 8 minutes and 47 seconds of play:

“Coincidental roughing at 19:06 of 2nd.
Comes out of box at 1:06, then interference call at 1:38 of 3rd.
Exits box at 3:38, tripping call at 4:32.
Exits box at 6:32, tripping call at 6:47. Never seen that before.”

Kane received a roughing penalty at 19:06 of the second period. He came out of the box at 1:06 of the third, stayed on the ice, and took an interference penalty at 1:38. Then, after getting out at 3:38, the 30-year-old took a tripping penalty at 4:32. And finally, to cap it all off, Kane took another tripping penalty at 6:47 after hopping out again at 6:32.

A record:

Despite being down for almost eight straight minutes without a man, the Oilers managed to get a 6-1 win over the visiting Coyotes.

While management and coaching staff might be getting nervous that Kane’s true side is showing, fans are loving it, saying he brings the grit and heat that Zack Kassian hasn’t brought to the table since suffering injuries.

On top of that, stats prove that Kane is fitting well into the team and there is a sense that he could be returning to the Oilers next season.
