Last week, details emerged on a holiday shopping spree to 100 high school students held by Edmonton Oilers’ Evander Kane, who was looking to give back to the community during the holiday season.

On Tuesday, the Oilers and Kane himself shared some footage of the event, in which Kane’s generosity brought a woman to tears seeing that her child could have something they really wanted for Christmas.

“I don’t have the means to get stuff for Christmas, so this is a blessing,” the mother can be heard through her tears.

We can see her and her daughter enjoying the shopping spree held by Kane, who shared the video on his Twitter account.

Kane offered each student one of his Oilers’ t-shirt along with 250$ to spend on something for themselves. When the Oilers’ forward found out that two students used the money to buy groceries for their household, Kane gave each of them an extra $250 to get a present for themselves and a signed jersey as keepsake.

This is a great way to get involved in the community and have young fans make a better opinion of the controversial player.
As it’s been mentioned in the past, Kane has been at the center of many unflattering reports, most recently when it comes to his bankruptcy history or the stories with his estranged wife Anna.

This is also probably an opportunity for Kane to focus on something else than his intense recovery from a severely cut wrist. Before he was injured and placed on the long-term injured reserve, Kane had put 13 points in 14 games this season.

Now, he tallied a lot of smiles and tears of happiness with his generosity.
