Evander Kane remembers it all. He remembers the blood and how he feared bleeding out on the ice.

That’s what went through the Edmonton Oilers top forward’s head on Tuesday night when his wrist was lacerated by Tampa Bay Lightning’s Pat Maroon during the game that night. Right away, Kane frantically skated to his team’s bench as a pool of blood was visible on the ice almost immediately.

On Friday, Kane awaited the arrival of his teammates in Florida, as the Oilers will take on the Panthers on Saturday, and faced media for the first time since he underwent surgery on his wrist.

Kane revealed some additional gruesome details on his injury that will give him on the shelf for the next three to four months.

The injured forward explained how he pretty much cut everything down to the bone and was shocked by the amount of blood that shot up from the opened wound.

Kane met reporters with his wrist is immobilized. He is expected to miss three to four months of action and has since been placed on the Oilers’ long-term injured reserve.

Before the gruesome injury, he had put up five goals and eight assists over 13 games this season. He is in the first year of a four-year, $20.5-million contract he signed this summer after joining Edmonton mid-season last year.

We wish him a speedy recovery.
