Evander Kane stirs up controversy despite still being unsigned.

National Hockey League star forward Evander Kane is hoping to secure himself another NHL contract for the upcoming 2026-27 season, but he may have just hurt his chances.

Recently Kane took to social media to make comments that led to a heated exchange between the veteran NHLer and a veteran NHL reporter. Kane, who was famously suspended 21 games for using a fake vaccination card in October of 2021 took to social media to clarify that he still very much holds the beliefs he did back then.

"Imagine believing that someone else’s injection was supposed to protect someone who didn’t get one… and then calling other people the idiots," wrote Kane on social media.

Kane's comments appeared to rub veteran NHL reporter Mark Spector the wrong way which would in turn lead to a heated exchange between the two men. It was Spector however who fired the opening salvo when he chose to reply directly to Kane's message.

"Imagine, Evander Kane with a selfish take," wrote Spector.

Kane however would hurl some insults of his own and in fact even took things a step further. Kane insinuated that he had once brought Spector to tears after confronting him over words the veteran reporter had written.

"Imagine, Mark Spector with a idiotic take," said Kane. "The drama of it all."

"I would say more but you might start crying like you did when I gave you a talking to outside the locker room," wrote Kane. "Don’t tell me you forgot."

It was an ugly exchange between the two men, one that I don't think did either of them any favors, and you have to wonder if Kane may not have hurt his chances of finding a new team given his penchant for finding himself at the center of controversy.
