Fans were already displeasure with his trade to Vancouver, this is not going to make it better.
When the Canucks traded for Evander Kane this summer, the reactions from the fanbase made it clear the controversial forward would face some tough criticism and additional pressure as the new addition in Vancouver.
Kane stepped on the ice on Thursday night for the Canucks’ home opener against the Calgary Flames and fans attending the game appeared willing to give him a chance.
After 40 minutes though, fans took to social media to heavily criticize Kane, especially for his bad attitude and terrible work on the power play. So much so that he ended trending for all the wrong reasons with fans demanding new head coach Adam Foote take him off special units.
"Get Evander Kane off the power play @canucks. He’s a turnover machine," wrote one fan.
"Evander Kane on the power play is absolutely horrific," said another.
With someone else adding: "Yeah I think I’ve seen enough of Evander Kane on PP1… "
In the end, Kane ended the night with an assist in a 5-1 decisive win. Tempers flared all game long, and Kane’s bad mouthing habits surely didn’t help.
This is of course just Game 1 in the season, but under already a lot of scrutiny, Kane better step up to make sure he gets fans on his side in Vancouver.
