Evander Kane under fire after photograph with controversial political figure.

Vancouver Canucks forward Evander Kane has kicked up quite a stir on social media.

Over the weekend Kane published a number of pictures through his official social media, pictures that have sparked outrage from a segment of the Canucks fan base.

Kane, who only just recently joined the Canucks roster, published photos of a dinner he attended, a dinner that featured controversial political figure and current FBI director Kash Patel. You can see one of the photos of Kane alongside Patel just below courtesy of Kane's Instagram:

Kane also published a photo of himself alongside his fiancee and Patel:

These particular photos were published directly to Kane's instagram and some of the comments that have come in response to that decision have been vitriolic to say the least. Here are only a few examples of some of those responses:

Unfortunately some of those reactions would go well over the line with some fans going so far as to make threats against the player for merely publishing a photo to his Instagram account.

I do have to be clear that this was only a segment of the Canucks' fan base and not at all representative of it as a whole, with many fans appearing to be surprised at the level of negative reaction that was generated over a mere photo.
