When you thought things couldn’t get worse for the Hurricanes’ forward who has been sidelined since an Achilles tear in January.

This has to be brutal for Carolina Hurricanes forward Max Pacioretty. Not only did the veteran forward suffered a second Achilles tear back in January, now it looks like the future just got even more uncertain for him…

On Wednesday, Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said he’s not sure when Pacioretty will be able to return to action and that he might have to explore what’s out there in terms of goal-scoring, per Ryan Henkel.

“As far as Pacioretty goes, obviously he’s been through a lot and we don’t know what the future is going to hold there… I don’t even know when he’ll be able to play. The expectations and all that.

“He’s still going through a lot of his therapy and treatment and all that. We have to make sure that we don’t get caught counting on something that’s potentially not there. We’ll see how the summer plays out with him.”

This may mean that Pacioretty does not fit anymore in the Canes’ plans, which would be bad news for the veteran forward.

To make things worse, he just sold his house in Las Vegas. Maybe the $11 million he will make off that sale will help him swallow the possibility of being let go by the Hurricanes this summer…
