Ex-Maple Leaf Sergei Berezin has died suddenly
The former Leafs forward was just 52.
The extended family of the Toronto Maple Leafs has suffered a stunning and tragic loss. Former forward Sergei Berezin, who was selected in Round 1 of the 1994 NHL Draft, has passed away at the age of 52; no cause of death has yet to be revealed.
Berezin, who was born in Voskresensk in 1971, would also play for the Phoenix Coyotes, Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals during his NHL career.
In 502 career NHL contests, he would tally 160 goals with 126 assists. Upon his return to his native Russia following his NHL career, he'd play a lone season with CSKA Moscow.
We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of Berezin during this tragic time.
