Go ahead and include former Detroit Red Wings forward Evgeny Svechnikov as one of the many draft selections by former general manager Ken Holland that just did not work out whatsoever.
Drafted 19th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft, Svechnikov's NHL career has gone nothing like his brother Andrei Svechnikov, who is one of the top players with the contending Carolina Hurricanes. He appeared in a total of 41 games with the Red Wings, a tenure which was unfortunately filled with injury woes, and scored a mere five goals.
After not being offered a qualifying contract by the Red Wings, he signed a minor league deal with the Winnipeg Jets, and soon found himself with the big club and enjoyed moderate success with seven goals and 12 assists in his first full NHL season. A free-agent once again, he agreed to a one-year contract with the San Jose Sharks, and would score eight goals with six assists in 59 games played.
And now, he's heading back to his homeland of Russia, signing with Ak Bars Kazan in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
