The Montreal Canadiens hired player agent Kent Hughes to a five-year deal as their general manager Tuesday, with the hopes that he will be able to turn around a team with the worst record in the league at the moment.
Of course that’s almost all that was talked about during the day and one fan decided it would be his time for his 15 minutes of fame. That fan, with the Twitter handle @Math_Diamond_10 changed his name for Kent Hughes and answered the Canadiens’ tweet reporting his hiring with the words Bonjour Montreal.
As the TV station LCN (owned by Quebecor along with TVA Sports) was reporting on Hughes and his addition to the Habs’ team, it used the false tweet.
@Math_Diamond_10 then posted that he could not believe LCN (a very popular channel in the entire province of Quebec) had taken him for Hughes and used his tweet on the broadcast.
While @Math_Diamond_10 is very happy about it, we bet the team in the newsroom is feeling quite embarrassed…
