If you think you're having a bad time as a fan of the National Hockey League, regardless of how down in the dumps your particular team of choice may be, just remember that things could always be worse.
On Saturday night, the New Jersey Devils played in what was just the second game of their regular season when they took on the Detroit Red Wings, a game that would end in a 5-2 win for the Red Wings. It was the second straight loss of the season and the second straight game in which they lost by a margin of 3 goals, something that left the fans in attendance less than thrilled about their start to the season.
Fans were so upset in fact that, despite the fact that we are only 2 games into the season, loud, clearly audible chants of "Fire Lindy!" could be heard on the NHL broadcast of the game. It seems that, at least the fans, are placing much of the blame for this slow start on veteran head coach Lindy Ruff and it seems clear that they feel a different voice is needed behind the bench.
Following the game itself a number of videos have made their way onto social media showing the crowd in attendance for last night's game calling for Ruff to be fired, and it is clear that this was not some isolated group of fans causing trouble.
This of course by no means, means that Ruff will in fact be fired, but this is a bad trend to be starting in just your 2nd game of the regular season.
