Fans gets rejected by Martin St. Louis on Saturday night.

The head coach of the Montreal Canadiens shuts down a fan on Saturday night.

Everyone reading this is quite passionate about the sport of hockey and if you follow it at all at the highest level you're probably a fan of at least one, or possibly more, high level players in the National Hockey League.

The word fan comes from the word fanatic however and at times we can see fans get a little overzealous when it comes to getting a moment with the personality or player they have been idolizing from afar. That was unfortunately the case for one fan on Saturday night, who was hoping to get a special moment with legendary former NHL player Martin St. Louis.

St. Louis is of course currently serving as the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens and on Saturday night, St. Louis and the Habs were taking on his former team in the Tampa Bay Lightning.

One overzealous Lightning fan was hoping to get a selfie with the former Lightning star, but unfortunately she probably chose the worst possible moment. The fan tried to get St. Louis' attention for a selfie while he was behind the bench of the Montreal Canadiens, in the middle of the game, and the reaction from the Canadiens head coach was predictable.

St. Louis rejected the fans attempts at getting his attention, making it clear that he did not approve of being disturbed while coaching his team. This of course is the only response St. Louis could have had, given that he is in the middle of performing his job and given the precedent it would set if he allowed the fan to take the selfie she desired.

St. Louis has received some mild criticism for the way he handled the situation on social media, but as far as I'm concerned there was no other way for St. Louis to appropriately deal with the situation.
