Feud erupts between insider Frank Seravalli and goalie John Gibson's agent!

In the middle of free agency and trade rumours, this feud comes out as reports show that Gibson wants out of Anaheim.

Earlier this week and over the weekend, when NHL free agency got underway, reports emerged that Anaheim Ducks veteran goalie John Gibson has demanded a trade. It first emerged on Saturday when insider Frank Seravalli said on the Nasty Knuckles podcast that Gibson is “not playing another game for the Anaheim Ducks” and has requested a trade out of town.

“How do you think John Gibson felt the last three of four years in Anaheim, just getting absolutely pummelled with shots on a nightly basis?” Seravalli said. “Knowing when you walk into the rink every day, that you have next to no chance to win.”

Then, Gibson’s agent Kurt Overhardt of KO Sports, Inc. denied the rumour and attacked Seravalli for his false report, stating that his client never uttered those words.

“On behalf of and at the request of my client, John Gibson, we would like to clearly state this statement is false, unjust and inflammatory. Frank Seravalli did not reach out to the player nor myself to fact check the accuracy of this comment,” the statement read.

Following the statement from Gibson’s camp, Seravalli doubled down on his claims and called out Overhardt with the line: “Hey Kurt, do you remember the last time you attempted to claim my reporting was false? All the best.”

It hasn’t been easy for Gibson in the past seasons and just this spring, the Ducks finished dead last in the NHL with 58 points and a 23-47-12 record, and have failed to make the playoffs since the 2017-18 season. In 52 starts last season, Gibson, who was the Ducks second round pick (39th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft, registered a 3.99 goals against average and a .899 save percentage, both career lows.

A change of scenery might not be a bad ideas after all. And in my years of blogging, if there is one insider you can trust, it’s Frank Seravalli.
