The Detroit Red Wings have been nothing short of the walking wounded during the 2022-23 NHL season, having lost several top players to various ailments. It was announced yesterday by the team that forward Robby Fabbri, who missed the first three months of the year recovering from offseason ACL surgery, was finished for the remainder of the schedule after suffering another lower body injury. What's more, they're considering shutting down workhorse goaltender Ville Husso for the remainder of the schedule as well.

And now, you can once again add yet another name to the list of players who's campaigns are finished. Filip Zadina, who missed significant time this year after suffering a broken bone in his leg thanks to a shot blocking incident, isn't expected to return in the remaining 10 games this season. In his stead, Detroit has called up forward Taro Hirose from the American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins.

Additionally, forward Alex Chiasson, who has proven himself to be a valuable presence on the power play during his brief time with the Red Wings, isn't available for tonight's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Zadina is in the first of a three year contract that he agreed to during the summer, though in the games he's appeared in, he hasn't produced the offensive numbers that the team was hoping for. He's tallied just three goals with four assists in the 30 games that he's been able to suit up in.
