It would now appear that Filip Zadina's promise to punish the team's that passed over him at the 2018 National Hockey League entry draft, a promise where he said he would "fill their nets with pucks," was nothing but hot air.

On Monday, Davos HC of the Swiss League appeared to all but confirm that Zadina's career in the NHL is over when they announced that Zadina had signed a 2 year contract extension with their organization. Zadina's contract will run through the 2027-28 season and may very well have brought an end to his hopes of returning to the NHL.

Zadina had made it clear that he had hopes of returning to play in the NHL and even stated flatly that if an opportunity opened up for him in the NHL he would gladly jump at the chance.

"If something like that could come from America, I would take it 100 percent," said Zadina in an interview with Osport back in April.

Zadina never delivered on the potential that many thought he had coming into the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and that was perhaps best exemplified by his final season in the league. During the 2023-24 season, Zadina had 13 goals and 10 assists for 23 points in 72 games with the San Jose Sharks, but finished the season with an abysmal -44 and was not offered a contract by any team in the NHL the following season.

That being said Zadina may have found a home with HC Davos where he had a solid season, 21 goals and 13 assists for 34 points over 43 games and a plus minus rating of +13 on the season.

The team's that passed on Zadina, the Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators and Arizona Coyotes can finally rest easy.
