Travis Green comments on the mysterious injury to Brady Tkachuk.
The Ottawa Senators picked up a huge win over the New York Islanders on Saturday afternoon but it was a win that may have come at a heavy price.
During the game's second period, Senators captain Brady Tkachuk suffered a bizarre looking injury when a seemingly innocuous play along the boards resulted in Tkachuk being knocked out of the game entirely.
Following the conclusion of the game, Senators head coach Travis Green was asked for an update on the status of his captain, but the comments from Green may have only amplified the concern around Tkachuk.
"Wasn't feeling well," said Green when asked about what transpired with Tkachuk.
Tkachuk appeared nearly knocked out after what looked like very minor contact with Islanders defenseman Ryan Pulock, a reaction that certainly didn't fit the level of contact that occurred between the two men. Tkachuk however was involved in a fight earlier with Islanders captain Anders Lee, and a head injury would certainly fit all of the symptoms we witnessed from Tkachuk.
In fact, it would also fit Green's description of "not feeling well" given that we know how often players who suffer concussions can be ill. That is of course only speculation on my part, but it has to be a major cause for concern for the Senators given the stakes involved in their next few games.
