First overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky has been injured.
Habs lose Slafkovsky.
The Montreal Canadiens have been given a bit of a scare.
On Sunday night, the Habs took on the New York Rangers and they would emerge from that contest victorious after taking an early lead. Unfortunately the win would come at a high cost for the Canadiens with first overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky suffering an injury during the course of the game.
It is hard to tell exactly what happened to Slafkovsky given the fact that he was involved in a collision and on the receiving end of a crosscheck during his final shift, however what is clear is that the first overall pick at the 2022 National Hockey League Entry Draft appeared to be favoring his left leg as he skated back to the Canadiens bench.
Slafkovsky not only grabbed at his seemingly injured leg with his hands, but even appeared to struggled to put weight on it as he left the ice and returned to the bench.
The Canadiens have confirmed that Slafkovsky suffered a lower body injury during the game although no details regarding the severity of that injury have been released at this time. Slafkovsky will be evaluated when the Habs return to Montreal, and we will likely get an update on his status when that occurs.
