It was recently reported by JFresh that New York Islanders forward Julien Gauthier is the third-fastest player in the entire National Hockey League. It did not stop him from landing on waivers on Friday.
The Islanders placed the former first round pick by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2016 NHL Draft on the waiver wire, per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Gauthier landed in New York after a short stint in Carolina and four season spent with the New York Rangers, and one campaign with the Ottawa Senators. He signed with the Islanders as a free agent back in July.
More to come on this developing story.
