Several players were placed on waivers on Tuesday and the name of defenceman Jacob Bernard-Docker stunned many fans as the Ottawa Senators continued to trim its training camp roster.
Bernard-Docker was selected 26th overall in 2018 by Ottawa and was their second former first-round pick placed on waivers in less than a week. Over the weekend, the Sens lost 2019 first-rounder Lassi Thomson to the Anaheim Ducks, who picked him up on the wire.
However, no one was claimed off waivers on Wednesday, which probably relieved the Senators, though it stunned many fans to see that Bernard-Docker wasn’t grabbed by other club.
The 23-year-old blue liner put up one assist in 19 games with the Senators last season, adding two goals and six points in 41 AHL games with the Belleville Senators.
He is a promising prospect, and we bet the Senators are happy to see him be assigned to AHL Belleville. Ottawa also assign forward Egor Sokolov, along with defenceman Jacob Larsson and forward Matthew Highmore after they too cleared waivers on Wednesday.
