Flames add two veteran defenseman via free agency today
Some smart depth for a team that's gonna need it.
This just in, the Calgary Flames have announced that they've signed veteran defenseman Jared Tinordi to a two-way, one year contract. Additionally, the team has invited fellow veteran defenseman Tyson Barrie to training camp on a professional tryout (PTO) contract.
Check it out:
Read our earlier report on Barrie, published last week when NHL insider Frank Seravalli first reported on his signing in Calgary.
This just in, NHL insider Frank Seravalli is reporting that veteran defenseman Tyson Barrie has signed a professional tryout (PTO) contract with the Calgary Flames.
From Seravalli:
The 33 year old is just a seaon removed from a 55 point season split between the Edmonton Oilers and Nashville Predators. He managed just a single goal and 15 points in 41 games with the Predators last season though.
Honestly, he should fit in perfectly with the Flames. Their powerplay looks like it's about to fall off a cliff given the players who have left the past calendar year and Barrie should help stabilize things from the back end, at least offensively.
