Flames begin stripping it down, trade Toffoli to the Devils
Is this the start of a rebuild in Calgary?

In case you missed it earlier today, the Calgary Flames traded forward Tyler Toffoli to the New Jersey Devils for Yegor Sharangovich and a 3rd round pick.
I've got to say... that's a bit perplexing...
The 31 year old Toffoli just put up a career high 34 goals and 73 points with the Flames this past season. I get that he wanted out of Calgary and all the drama happening around the club right now but... surely he's worth more than rookie GM Craig Conroy was able to get back?
The 25 year old Sharangovich is a decent depth player, to be sure, but there's little upside left with him at this point. He put up 13 goals and 30 points in 75 games with the Devils last season, a pretty steep declined from the 24 goal and 46 points campaign he had in 2021-22. It's worth noting that he played alongside Devils superstar Jack Hughes while compiling most of his stats. The 3rd round pick is... well... it's not nothin' I guess.
Thoughts, Flames fans? This can't have you feeling good about potential moves involving Mikael Backlund, Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin down the line, can it?
