According to Calgary Flames insider Eric Francis, the Calgary Flames have called up 19 year old defenseman Zayne Parekh following the conclusion of the 2026 World Junior Championships. The 1st round selection (9th overall in 2024) is expected to join the team for their upcoming five game road trip which begins tomorrow.

Parekh, obviously, is coming off a bronze medal winning tournament with Team Canada at the World Juniors, a tournament where he stood out as one of Canada's top defenders. While he and his teammates fell short of their goal of winning gold, Parekh can hardly be faulted for their failure to do so. The native of Markham, ON had five goals and 13 points in seven games at the tournament and was a key offensive driver for the team in nearly every game.

Parekh, of course, isn't completely green when it comes to the NHL though, he did manage to play 11 games with the Flames to start the season.
