The Calgary Flames have made some major changes to their current preseason roster.

A report from Sportsnet's Pat Steinberg has revealed that a whopping 21 players have been cut from the Flames preseason roster, although there were no major surprises among the cuts.

Among the 21 players, 6 will be sent down to the American Hockey League. Those players are Doetzel, Findlay, McDonald, Pelley, Smith, and Yevenko, and all of them are expected to report.

Among the group of 21 players 10 of them have been sent down to the Canadian Hockey League. Those players are Dove-McFalls, Fischer, Gawdin, Hawerchuk, Helgesen, Morrison, Phillips, Russell, Ruzicka, and Schneider.

5 players were just flat out released by the Flames, however according to Steinberg all 5 have been given an invitation to the Stockton Heat's training camp, indicating that they still have a shot to make the AHL roster. Those players are Lowry, Maggio, Olsen, Ruopp, and Watson.
